please do help this filipino workers in Saudi Arabia! WORKERS’ EXIT AND EXPIRED IQAMA (Saudi Residence Permit) UN RENEWED Mostly of the workers here ( EXITS) do not have “IQAMA” anymore. As per Saudi Law, everybody (Saudi Nationals and Expatriates) must always be having IQAMA in their possession. Anybody caught without it will be imprisoned for the duration up to the time his Saudi Sponsor will present to the Police Authorities the “renewed IQAMA! Those that were caught sometimes stayed inside the jail for one (1) or two (2) weeks’ time, depending on how fast the company will apply for the renewal. Why the workers still insist in going out the camp even if they knew the risks? Here are some of the unfavorable reasons, as follows; 1. Many workers here inside the camp are suffering from diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, and other sicknesses. All workers have medical insurance card named “MEDGULF”, which has many types; A, B and C. Before, the company thru site clinics will provide to sick workers their maintenance medicines every month. But lately, they stop it and instead instructed all workers to go to hospital for their check up and maintenance medicines. This is why the workers are forced to go out the camp even without IQAMA. 2. The other reason why workers wanted to go outside the camp even if it’s risky without the IQAMAis to purchase grocery items, personal needs, and also to marketplaces to buy fish and meat so they can cook Filipino dishes at least once a week in order to have different food taste other than those given at the company’s mesh hall which are almost the same menu for the whole week, and repeated, and repeated the whole year round. Some people were lucky and come home safe, but others were caught along the way. There is another big problem when the worker’s IQAMA has expired, specifically the exit workers because a “final exit visa” application requires an IQAMA attachment.
