#powershell #lifeAtDell Going deep into powershell today. At the company I work for each facet of the development process (and any other process) is owned by somebody else. Never the developer. This is a problem as half of those somebody elses live half a world away. So when it is time to deploy our code (the deploy is done by them) they tell us that it was done. They dont however check the deployment, ensure that the environment is good (as environment is owned by another somebody else), validate that the data is where we need (yep...data is owned by another somebody else too), see if the log has errors in it, etc. So we developer folk have decided to hand a script over to the group of somebodys that will validate the environment has everything we need (end points, data, servers, etc.), update the database, pump the appropriate data in place, install our services in the appropriate order, get the services started, validate that they are running, check the deployment and start up logs to ensure that nothing was messed up, and just about anything else we would normally do if we owned the deploy and environment. A good first time powershell project!
