[al-Isra’ 17:70] sisters are to be fully veild.... “O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (al-Ahzaab - 33:59) and these verses below are for brothers and sisters as well.... “… and not to show off their adornment…” [al-Noor 24:31] “....and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance” [al-Ahzaab 33:33]. Al-Haafiz ibn Katheer said in his Tafseer: This means that they should not display any part of their adornment to non-mahrams..... Imaam Ibn Katheer said: This is a command from Allah to His believing slaves to lower their gaze and refrain from looking at that which is forbidden to them. So they should not look at anything except that which they are permitted to look at, and they should lower their gaze and refrain from looking at forbidden things.
