racial definition is a slippery slope. If I was to be traditional Wandat in all my thinking, I would say one is either Wandat or one is of some other kind. You cant be half villager, quarter villager. But if i LEFT a Wandat mindset and embraced imperialistic anglo-american mind-set i would have to use the definitions and categories of that conqueror people group. I would have to conclude that there are no more racially correct Wyandot people and therefore Wyandot are extinct. Depends on our mind frame. Do we think as colonizers and how we were programmed to think? or do we return to our inherited aboriginal thinking patterns? We survive, we thrive, we are reawakening our languages, ceremonies and traditions that have simply been sleeping... its the way I prefer to see it...its our right, its even our obligation, if we are to call ourselves Wyandot, and it honors our aboriginal ancestors who lived and died in order for us to be here today...now we pass it on.
