(repost) I am not sorry to those who will find this post offensive. My timeline has frequently been bombarded with pictures of people raising their thumbs, showing proudly their cheques amounting to a few thousand bucks. What makes it more annoying is that these people often tag their friends in an expression so long that reading it pushes you to your annoyances limits. (Ok, thats overacting.) Its as if bragging has become so cool and so normal that people no longer care about what others might think about them doing it. Aba, matindi! Then they would try to salvage their image dripping of pride by claiming its their desire to inspire others to get rich. Aba matindi talaga! I have been invited, at times forced or caught unaware, to listen to their business presentations. The promise of wealth is so blinding, actually. Often they would start by asking me what I do for a living. I would say I am a teacher. Right there, believe me, they would try to shoot that with a bullet in an attempt to make me feel less happy about what I do. They would ask, How much do you earn? And that would be the time for me to cross my arms and shrug. These people actually think that life is just about getting rich, buying luxury cars, traveling the world, or getting fair and flawless. They somehow have forgotten that there is more to life than these. They have been blinded by their material possessions and they are not content with what they already have. They want more and they will do everything to have more even if it means humiliating others feelings, making them feel unsuccessful, or killing their dreams. Their idea of success is just a picture of money bag, and they fail to realize that other people work hard not only to be rich but also to be somebody and to help others become somebody too. Thats my case. They would even tell me not to be close-minded. Gad! I have long opened my mind and have seen what really happens. Its about time they become open-hearted. This can be done by simply answering these questions I have in mind: 1. In all honesty, why do you keep on inviting people and making them part of your team? Do you just want to help or theres something else? 2. When you talk about your business, why dont you highlight your products and how they are effective instead of focusing much on how the pyramiding strategy works? If its a business, isnt it proper that the main point of interest and sales-talk be the products? 3. Are the products effective? Effective in what sense? Is it needed? Then why do they have No Approved Therapeutic Claims label? This you fail to tell your customers. The products you sell arent really necessary and people get to buy them at a very high price. And this is just a secondary component of the business. 4. Why are you so aggressive of getting more people to the point of targeting young students, who, instead of studying are blinded by the promise of good money so end up giving pamphlets to passersby on the roads? 5. How many of your recruits actually earn as much as you do? 6. And finally, where does the money you receive weekly, which you then take a photograph of and post on Facebook and annoy others and make them think you are bragging come from? I am not against getting rich. I also want to have money to buy myself a good car, travel, or eat like a viking, but I am against getting rich at the expense of others. Your business actually works like Marxs base-and-superstructure model where those on top are enjoying all the luxuries while those below are working hard to establish a good base, all these efforts for those above them. Its very good to be rich, but I am sure it is better to get a life, a well-spent one. When I grow old and look back to my life, I prefer seeing myself doing something good for myself and others, over seeing me selling soap in fancy label.
