rollingstone/movies/reviews/saving-mr-banks-20131212 Calling all Mary Poppins fans! -- for that matter, all lovers of movie magic: After the trailer, I was skeptical of its overt Hollywood sentimentality -- much like Emma Thompsons character in this new biographical film. But a few minutes into watching the film, I was completely under its spell. This is a truly magical film, a remarkable true story fabulously told, deeply touching (I cant count the number of times I teared up, even sobbed), and absolutely pitch-perfect in its delivery (Emma Thompson is dynamite, and the rest of the cast couldnt be bettered). A shame this film didnt get more award nominations; I think it is every bit as good as most (if not all) of this years Oscar contenders for best picture. Though I was alone in my apartment when I saw it, I had to applaud out loud.
