saw a few status updates condemning the total lack of empathy towards the adivasi victims of the bodo attack as compared to the nearly ubiquitous coverage and condemnation - right from the international/national media to the FB self-righteous radical liberals - of the savagery of Taliban unleashed in Peshawar military school. but what is missed even in some of these politically alert observations and juxtaposing is the different ontologies of violence itself so that it creates different passions within the liberal minds. Why the Taliban violence is extremely barbaric, while the series of massacres since 1990 perpetrated by bodo-militants become tolerable? When it is committed by muslims, the violence becomes completely apolitical, rather one motivated by religious bigotry. The complex web of alienation of the tribal life of pashwar/khyber due the massive internal displacements, external migrations, the complete loss of livelihood means and a brutal occupation and indiscriminate bombings by a very notorious military operation that has been going on for the past several months which killed several hundred innocent civilians; everything disappears when a counter-offensive comes out. Never mind what talibanis themselves have to say about their revenge killing, no matter what they were speaking was in a political language, for the passionate observers it can only be framed in religious terms when it comes from the muslim enemy
