saw some interesting work at the dallas art fair today (props to locals re gallery, conduit, barry whistler). op art seems to be back, which is nice, though maybe im slow to have noted this trend. overall, however, a lot of not-super-exciting wall candy. an environment that seems at best indifferent to real transgression or experimentation in terms of content or medium. very little sculpture. practically no performance. (where would you PUT that?) most commonly heard phrase: i really like this. the defining piece was a large painting of a chanel #5 bottle in bright pastels. im guessing itll be in a north dallas boudoir in short order.
