second floating candle test using whipped wax on the underside to make the candle float on the surface rather than partially submerged. 50 minutes into the 2nd burn, wick trim , the pool is about 1&1/8 inch wide .the first row of leaves on the bottom of the actual flower remain above the surface of the water as apposed to just below the surface as it did before i applied a whipped base to the bottom of the floater .The mold is made with the flower facing down ward in the mold leaving the hole in the top of the base to be the bottom of the mold ,where the wax is poured.Basically I finished the last half of the pour with whipped pillar wax leveled it off and chilled it .the timing on this works out pretty good because while the solid wax is setting up you have just enough time to whip the wax to be contained in the other half of the mold and enough time for the first wax u poured to set up enough yet still be warm so the second pour will stick to it . this is a busy project and timing is key.a not before yet not after kind of focus is required.this is also my first experiment working with whipped candle wax too ....which also has a very fast set up speed leaving you with a brief 5 minutes to work with it while its still soft .There is a moment some where in this process when the whipped wax will take a mold impression and maintain a smooth surface .In fact I did a mold to see if i could do this,on my fourth mold just to see if i could improve the floating ..and except for looking a bit like mashed together pop corn flower it floated wonderfully and seemed to weigh nothing.but only a few petals on the flower were even smooth . 1 hour and 30 minutes into the second burn and about 1/2 inch deep in the pool to the surface maintaining a bout a 1&3/4 inch inch width pool .at this point i blow it out remove it from the water and cut it in half to examine the interior .i still had about 1/2 inch left to burn in the whipped wax .the pool had already breached the hard wax and was already starting to burn the whipped wax .
