shares a couple pictures of the old Griffin farm house in Kansas -- a house build by Great Grandpa John Griffin. Shared last Sunday in worship how it was 27 years ago last month, he stayed in that farmhouse for the very last time. Dad died unexpectedly in 1987. John returned from California from seminary to attend the funeral. He stayed in the house and was very afraid that night because it was the first time he had ever been on that farm completely alone. Grandma and Grandpa, Mom and Dad were all dead. Sisters were staying elsewhere. That was a long night. Today, the house is in sad condition. The paint is practically gone. Bushes and weeds growing tall. Rats and other critters make the house their home. It is no longer the safe and welcoming place it had always been. But so many memories tied to that farm and that house. Every trip back to Kansas goes straight down the dirt and gravel road to this familiar spot, but there really is never any going back.
