she walked the street to home she walked so often before. cars driving past as the rain begins to sprinkle down kissing the dry pavement tiles that made up the sidewalk. Her knee high heel boots clapped against it at a steady pace, her balance used to such footware....for walking at least. she made her way down the line of damp, solid rock pondering of her king and what he was doing, her thoughts drifting to the life ahead as well as their afterlife together. they were destined to become rulers and demons of dark divinity. their wings would incase them as their passion is fueled by a love so fierce, not even the gods would dare to toil in its workings. she had vecome so lost in her thoughts she did not notice the man who had been following her for nearly two blocks after eyeing her passing a doorway he had been occupying to inhale his cancer stick. his gaze followed unrelenting and he cracked an evil smile and began to follow her carefully. observing her speed, as well as his surroundings he concluded a small ways up ahead would be the best time. she turned a corner which lead down a dead street, only a few small businesses in open few and far between. light posts were scarce on this street so many areas remained unlit till dawn. her boots continued their pace, her stride elegant and practiced. the man came around the corner and decided it was time. he quickly and quietly run up from behind and secured one arm around her waist and the other cupped her mouth as she began to scream. he dragged her to the darkness, her boot heels slapping, clicking and scratching the pavement in refusal. once in the shades of a dumpster area he forced her down and placed his hand onto her throat staring deep into her eyes. hers were filled with anger, disbelief, and fear. his, dead and without light or spark of any kind. he increased his grip around her throat and her eyes widened in terror as she gasped. he removed his hand from her mouth and she tried desperately to make any amount of vocal sound, but could not inhale nor exhale past his grip. she felt her finger tips dig into the skin of his arms trying to remove him but could not best his strength. her vision began to dim slightly, feeling her heart pump hard in her ears and looked into his face trying to remain conscious, thinking of only one person. she saw a wisp of shadow peek out over the shoulder of her attacker, much like liquid smoke it bellowed over his back and shoulders wrapping its tendrils around the mans torso. her vision now nearly gone, hearing filtered. the man now seeing the shades encasing him he releases her. she coughs sputters and gasps for air, disoriented and still hearing nearly only her heart in her head. she looks to her attacker who is standing only a few feet away now, frozen facing the opposite wall of the dumpster area where a small bit of light casted itself upon the wall, just enough to provide texture to its shadows, which the girl now noticed, flowed from the wall to the mans feet, which seemed to fixated him there. his eye were now wide, locked onto the wall of animated shades which began to grow. morphing into a vertical oval like pool, blacker than a black hole. once it reached nearly 7 feet tall it emitted a noise the girl could not decipher but knew had to be spoken word. it growled, raspy, yet silky as well as if two voices. she looked to her attackers face, his eyes now dinner plates and streaming tears of horror. she looked back to the pool of abyss and jumped when she saw two deep red eyes begin to form in its depths along with a body form. it stood six foot, by no means slim nor fat, simply perfect, yet without definition. it began to emerge from its home, eyes sizzling smoke as well as its newly forming facial features. as it stepped out from the abyss the girls hearing began to become focused and she her the sound of dropping water, she looked to see her attackers pant leg soaked as he pissed himself. she looked back to the tall shade like body which had grown wings which stretched and spanned twelve feet. one in the likness of a bat, the other the likeness of a bird. it spoke again raising a hand to the face of the man as shadows fell and flaked from his surface. the words he spoke, she could not understand, but knew his intentions. her attacker slowly lifted into the air, carried by the moving shadows. the shade man looked into the girls eyes, nodded, extended his free hand to her. she took it, surprise by its silky feeling yet strong touch. the rose into the air bringing her attacker with them. he flew them to the closest river, over the middle and high away out of sight all the while she studied her savior. once stopped he motioned to look upon her attacker. Life, or Death? the shade said to her. she looked at the dark figure made of shades and shadow. gazing into the inferno that was his eyes. Death she whispered. the shade looked unto the man, and clenched his hand into a fist. the shadows that carried the attacker compressed his body, and began to work through him. digging into every orafice and gagging him. the man made one large crack as the shadows shattered every bone, and combusted outward shredding his case of flesh to nothing. as pieces flew, the shade man encased them in his wings. he flew her back to her home without words exchanged. as they landed in her back yard and he set her down, the shadows began to desolve. she could begin to see definition in the man. he smiled as his eyes faded to a dull brown and formed a long coat and knee high plated combat boots. the girl began to cry and smiled wide with the man. they made their way inside as the rain stopped and the sun poked through the clouds. many screams were heard that night. but not of terror or fear. ;) well that took forever and a day.
