similarities between andrew jackson and obama: both were raised without their father... Jacksons father died before his born Obamas was an absentee father Both led grassroots campaigns and defeated the incumbent party in power. Both were lawyers Both overcame scurilous attacks against them by the opposition during their presidential campaigns. Both followed Presidents whose fathers were also Presidents Both of their immediate predecessors were elected in disputed elections -- John Quincy Adams (1824) and George W. Bush (2000) -- Both had lost the popular vote. And. speaking of disputed elections, in these two elections the candidates with the highest number of popular votes, who ended up losing were both from Tennessee... Andrew Jackson, himself, in 1824 Al Gore...in 2000, while the candidates who WON were both born in New England and in the month of July, and the losers were born in the month of March... Andrew Jackson...March 15, 1767 Al Gore... March 31, 1948 John Quincy Adams, July 11, 1767 in Braintree, Massachusetts George W. Bush, July 6, 1946 in New Haven. Connecticut. Both were hailed as leaders of the Common Man. Both had served in the US Senate... Jackson from 1797 - 1798, and again from 1823 - 1825 Obama served in the US Senate from 2004 - 2008. Both appointed US Senators from New York as their US Secretary of State, Martin Van Buren and Hillary Rodham Clinton. In fact, Hillary held the same seat that Van Buren had held! Both had majorities of their party in the two Houses of Congress: Jackson: Senate: 25 Jacksonian; 23 Anti-Jacksonian House: 136 Jacksonian, 72 Anti-Jacksonian, 5 Anti-Masonic Obama: Senate: 60 Democrats, 40 Republicans; House: 257 Democrats, 177 Republicans, 1 vacancy In their first year as president, each appointed an Associate Justice to the Supreme Court, John McLean in 1829 Sonia Sotomayer in 2009. Both had issues with the Banking industry In 1832, President Jackson vetoed the re-charter of the second Bank of the United States because he believed that Congress lacked constitutional authority to create it and because, like many westerners, he considered the bank, under the direction of Nicholas Biddle, an elitist institution that monopolized the banking industry and favored eastern manufacturing interests at the expense of common working people. With the veto sustained, the bank was dissolved on the expiration of its charter in 1836. Meanwhile, Jackson hastened its demise by withdrawing the approximately $11 million in federal funds on deposit at the bank and distributing it to various state banks, or pet banks. For this act, the Senate voted to censure Jackson in 1834 but expunged the censure three years later. With the dissolution of the bank went its conservative monetary policy. State banks extended easy credit and issue paper money freely, touching off a round of western land speculation and inflation. In 1836, Jackson sought to restore economic order by issuing the Specie Circular, which required buyers of public land to pay in gold or silver. The order effectively dried up credit and ended the feverish land speculation, but it also precipitated the Panic of 1837, which started shortly after Jackson left office. Earlier this year, The Obama administration launched its much-awaited assault on the worst U.S. banking crisis in 70 years, billions of federal dollars to thaw the nations frozen credit markets and ease the economy out of recession. But more importantly both of them have a nasty habit of bypassing rule of law and getting their agenda in acted through just plain not caring that the laws say they cant pass laws and regulate the things they wish to pass and regulate without aprovel of congress. For example. Obama with his editing bills so many times that they are not the same bill the congress originally agreed on. Jackson had over 40 thousand Native Americans moved against there will even though the supreme court said he could not in a little thing you might have heard of called the trail of tears. Both men are racist but in different ways. Obama hates whites and Jews and Jackson hated anyone not the same color as him. It is no wonder that the libs practically worship Obama as Jackson is the founding father of the Democratic party.
