so ive just found some more news about facebook buying the oculous Rift and it seem as though facebooks owner and creator Mark Zuckerburgh has been thinking about this purchase for a long time now and hopes to turn what is now a virtuall reality device made for gaming into What he describes to be the ultimate social experience where within the oculus you could watch a basketball game live using its 1:1 movement ratio you could possibly even move around a virtuall stadium doing as much as buying snacks at a vendor giving you the ultimate virtual experience i have also heard rumors of it getting to the point where doctors visits and company meetings could all take place using the Oculus Rift. over all i think this idea is a little far fetched and extremely expencive because not only does one of these devices cost about $350 USD this devise can also cause nausia as i have tryed one on before and as it is a great thing to have around if you want to have a good laugh at your friends stumbling around your living room because they have no sense of direction in the real world due to the fact that they are completely blind and looking at a mini LCD screen inide the device its self playing a video game or looking at something within the virtual reality that you are experiencing. and after all of the reaserch i have done i can think of one thing that this sort of thing would be great for if it were less expencive is for people in wheel chairs or some other crippling disorder . for example a soldier from afghanistan comes back from war and has sustained some sort of permanently crippling injury where he/she can no longer walk and must find a job to support his/her family but cant because this specific person cannot leave their house well that is where the occulus rift comes into play so that perhaps an employer could give this sodier a job working at home at a fast foor resturaunt taking orders at a drive through for a resuraunt or even a virtual receptionist for a hotel. over all i think that this could be a great investment for facebook although it could also be a devistating blow in terms of finances.
