some very good returns of the day :) in the case of Fishermen who were on hunger strike, Negotiations have led to cabinet decision whereupon that mauritian bank fishermen would be given employment priority on fishing boats in a non-negotiable way. Previously, this priority could have been by-passed if the boat owners contributed 7% of their catch to the ministry of fisheries. the boat owners would then employ foreign fishermen on very poor working conditions. this was in fact Doubly unacceptable. Not only such a condition fostered unemployment for our fishermen, but also encouraged exploitation of foreign fishermen. In a process to remedy to the situation, bound by the cabinet decision, the ministry of fisheries has had a meeting last week with boat owners to communicate the information to them and to collect their feedback about it. The appropriate amendments to their fishing license should soon follow as from what i have learnt from a representative of the Ministry of Fisheries department. i would like to thank the whole support comitee team for this encouraging result! the task has surely been a very tedious and straining one. Big Up to all the fishermen who courageously rallied and relayed to sustain their collective occupation of the kiosque at the jardin de la compagnie during those icy cold wintry nights. Mustapha Mohamed,John Serret, Cilvin, Orelio Ste Marie, Mario Jouana, Sil, Georges Malepa, i wish to thank them for trusting my as their negotiator in the support comittee, it was my first experience as such! Also Thanking Vince Pillay, Vina Ballgobin, Ivor Tan Yan and Sylvianne Calliste for their Tremendous help! the most in depth research and suggestions for the bank-fishermen community had been made through thorough negotiations in february involving Anil Beeputh and our dear friend the Bizlall Jack (y), these suggestions are surely still pertinent , and so, the diplomatic fight for the maritime sector, continues on! i also know that Ashok Subron and his team have a lot to share on the topic and i sincerely hope to meet them about it all very soon! Their conference around the maritime sector and the protest march that followed in the streets of Port Louis in 2012 are still very vivid in my memory. Certainly! There is so much to learn, so much to know. And it gets so cold sometimes on the path of social evolution. in fact it gets so lonely out here sometimes and everything just seems so wrong. would i lie to you and tell you that injustice and selfish human reactions leave me unaffected? They certainly do mess me up and crank my bones. My progression towards detachment is certainly a slow and painful one. Yet, i sincerely believe that we are capable of evolving together towards a better world, where love and peace would prevail. im not saying that its within our nature to bring about this change, im saying that it is within the reach of our potential to be able to do so. i also wish to sincerely apologise to all my friends for my prolonged absences, and send **Big Hugs** to Catherine Boudet thanking her for her support
