something that I put up on Clarke County Iowa Democrats that I manage. Politics and politicians are still accessible in Iowa. Yesterday Senator Harkin and former Congressman Boswell and former Lieutenant Governor Patty Judge were in Osceola at a fundraiser for Fred Diehl for State Representative- District 27 whose campaign I am working on. It was a privilege to listen to our elected officials, present and past, speak. Senator Harkin is retiring after 40 years and he said he had always carried Clarke County in his elections… which says something as Clarke is sometimes red and sometimes blue. President Obama won it in 2012 by 65 votes. Last night it was wonderful listening to Senator Harkin and Congressman Boswell speak elegantly about what they believe the Democratic Party does stand FOR… rather than the stand-against strategy of the right-wing. OK… one must give Steve King lots of points for not literally running away like Senator Rand Paul did. The young lady was not the one to escalate it and was obviously ready to move away after handing Mr. King her card. Mr. King chose to stand up and expand the conversation. Interesting to listen to some King staffer try to get the person recording it to stop. Of course, it would have been easier for Mr. King to just stop talking if there were something that the staffer did not want to be public. The video clip is is worth a second watch to pick up all that is being done and said. AND this is perfectly why we need to have YOUNG people in the Clarke County Democratic Central Committee because WE older persons … hide behind being respectful etc. etc.
