sometime ago on a small island in the Caribbean I happened to be working in the hospital ICU ...it was about 4am when I reflected on my 2 patients... one was a rich white man from Texas who had suffered a massive cardiac arrest on a cruise ship while visiting the island and the other was an old homeless black woman found unconscious at the bottom of a cliff on a very tiny island named Saba..they could not be more contrasting, yet they were no different because when you come down to the basic they were just two human beings.... a beating heart that could stop at any moment... I remembered standing between the slim screen that seperated them and I cried.Very recently I had a racial slur thrown at me from someone who has the same skin tone as mine, I am hurt beyond words... I came from a self made background that if i walk into a room full of people.... I see people.... not the color of their skin....I dont have any quotations for how I feel today, this whole thing with this young man and this vigilante has made me so sad and depressed and I pray for peace, I pray that we ALL be afflicted with a disease that would make us color blind.... I hope God answer my prayers.........
