ssi13 Way Forward For Arsenal Following Villa Loss? In fairness to Arsene Wenger, the defeat v Villa could be attributed to a very poor decision by the referee (and its consequences). Still, fans must be flabbergasted at his inability to deal with the two longstanding critical team-deficiences: an accomplished striker, and a quality holding midfielder. He missed an opportunity in the January window, and seems to have failed again: although the current window is still open, it is probably too late to access players of real quality. The situation is grim and urgent, since: (i) Liverpool is likely to be in the fray for that CL fourth spot, (ii) enhanced teams like Everton, Fulham, and Villa will probably be snapping at the heels of all the fourth-spot contenders; and (iii) Arsenal face Fenerbahce tomorrow and Fulham this weekend. Surely AW must now review/re-assess/optimise his current resources. In this regard, he should probably reconsider the bench-starting positions of Carzola and Podolski. In my view, the former is the most creative player in the squad; and the latter is the most explosive of our frontmen. Moreover, ignoring lingering injuries, I would suggest the following as our best possible starting 11: Strikers: Podolski, Walcott; Midfield 1: Carzola, Wilshere; Midfield 2: Rosicksky; Arteta (Holding); Defense: Vermaelen, Koscielny, Metersacker, Sagna; Keeper: Szczesny.
