[tbs 정오뉴스] ▶Korea Bans All Fisheries From Fukushima South Korea has extended its Japanese fisheries import ban to include all products from the Fukushima prefecture. The oceans and fisheries ministry said seafood and other related products from seven other prefectures adjacent to the radiation-hit region will also be banned. Growing concern among the Korean public over the growing crisis and limited information on radiation leaks at the Daiichi nuclear plant, has resulted in a sharp drop in overall consumption of seafood products. The government had formerly imposed an import ban on 50 Japanese fisheries product soon after the March 2011 earthquake which led to the Fukushima nuclear meltdown. However, this latest measure now bans all products from the region, regardless of whether or not they are contaminated, while the accepted dose of radiation in all fisheries products will be lowered from 370 to 100 Becquerel per kilogram.■ tbs.seoul.kr/eNews/news.do?method=efmNewsInfo&idx_800=17985
