#tbt Kurt Hoffman said I had to share my top ten albums of influence on my musicianship. This is going to take a long time to construct but here is number one first and foremost. Sunny Day Real Estates Diary not only changed how I looked and played music, it changed my life... People have used the words erratic, loud, and like Animal from the Muppets to describe my drumming and it is because I would play this song for hours on the drums that these words are probably accurate...it is from playing this song that I would adopt the habit of adding fills in frequently and random spots of songs. A lot of my bass playing style comes from this album/song as well. Also, the starting name of Marc Baker and Is band Good News From the Graveyard was Decembers Tragic Drive, a lyric pulled from this song. If it werent for this album you wouldnt have half the indie music you have today, Dave Grohls Foo Fighters would have never took off (Mendell and Goldsmith both helped Grohl start that band), it wouldnt have been acceptable to sing rather than scream in punk music, and I wouldnt have people asking me why I have a toaster tattooed on my arm.
