#tbt #UpperDarby All my rock and roll friends should remember this place. This was where I started collecting records in 72, VAL SHIVLEYS R&B RECORDS Garrett Rd. Amazing place. I used to head there late at night. my first purchase was a complete set of THE BEATLES Capital Records orange swirl label 45s. This was the original Garrett Rd location. Val was know for being very picky about who he let in the store and how he treated you. I loved the guy and he wound up trusting me. The greatest sign of trust from Val was if he let you go and search the amazing stacks and stacks and stacks and stacks and.... And the place was not a mess, it was just so stocked with just about any record that you could want. Id walk in, head to the stacks and Val would be talking with some record collector from England who had flown in simply to go through his stacks and usually find what they wanted. I so miss this place.
