the european overthrow of america is still young - perhaps these are just growing pains...it may be presumptuous by such a young entity to assume the US of the nineteen fifties was in fact our coming of age - yes we stood for justice in a few conflicts and yes we taught our ideals to our children - but, children live what they see not what they hear - selfish ambition is the word of the day - the american dream - a nation of the people and by the people can only be lived out when regard for the people supersedes the self service of our current republic - we are at this moment a nation of the people every man, woman, corporation, organization and club for itself, by itself against those who disagree - there is no "people" - we have become "the hollow men, the stuffed men leaning together headpiece filled with straw. Alas!" turn off the media and have coffee with your neighbor - renew neighborhoods! build trust cross culturally - dialogue - think - stand together against oppression and injustice - take care of the sick in your reach - feed the hungry in your reach - love the unlovable in your reach - change the america where you stand and you may save a nation that has potential to stand for more than capitalism alone - capitalism, like government, must represent and serve the people if the republic for which i stand as a child is to survive - "with liberty and justice for all"
