the real showpiece of the album is the final track “The Kings Voyage” - I’m not exaggerating when I say that this track is worth the price of admission all on its own. Starting off with atmospheric intro, all spacy, fantasy-dreamscape trippiness – the band then unleashes a riff so heavy and so crunchy-tasty you want to crank it up until you feel your bones shake. There’s an almost Sabbathy darkness and weight here, with an added Led Zeppelin-ish glow – pulled together with some kind of mad genius by The Vintage Caravan. Glorious guitar-shredding, basslines so heavy they take your breath away, commanding drums, and a chant-like quality to the vocals – it’s crazy, over the top and absolutely brilliant. Clocking in at 12 minutes it might seem self-indulgent, but it’s more like a whole album jammed into one tune.
