the word schadenfreude, means taking pleasure in the misfortunes of others. What makes schadenfreude a complex term is that the pleasure we feel when we witness a person’s misfortune is not derived from seeing them in pain but in the delight in watching their fall from grace—particularly when the person is in a position that we might see as enviable. In fact, researchers believe that the higher a person’s social or economic position, the more we might wish to see them dejected, because it unconsciously gives us permission to feel better about ourselves. It’s to be noted that envy or resentment play a huge role in the fluidity of these emotions; after all, very few of us, if any, wished ill toward Mother Teresa, but gosh, Martha Stewart was a little too perfect, right? Though many of us readily admit that these feelings are somewhat obscene, why is it then that we are unable to rise above them? While it could be easily implied that this recent rise of reveling in catastrophes could be threaded to our 24-hour access to social platforms, science and psychology suggest that schadenfreude is evolutionary and is woven into who we are. (End quote) Woven into who we are? This is a lie from the pit of hell! We were not created to take joy in watching other people suffer! We are not supposed to elevate ourselves in our minds to better than others because they make mistakes, or have less than you. *[[Phi 2:3]] TS1998* doing none at all through selfishness or self-conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. *[[Pro 24:17-18]] TS1998* Do not exult when your enemy falls, And let not your heart rejoice when he stumbles; Lest יהוה see and it be evil in His eyes, And He turn away His wrath from him. Thats for the enemy! Wow! What is Yah going to do when its your fellow believer? Your brother or sister? How are we supporting one another/lifting up when, in our minds, we are tearing each other down? And then, from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks! that adds a whole other layer of junk. But, get to the bottom of it. What makes you have to feel that youre better than another? (Thats a personal question we each have to ask ourselves). If it doesnt look like love, 1cor 13 love, Yeshua love as he sat among sinners with no pride, it is sin....it is a huge deception from the enemy. Our war isnt against flesh and blood friends!
