there is a lot of bantor going around online about the reception of the news of the death of actor Paul Walker. since I am also a member of this community- I will also chime in as I see 2 sides. - anytime that I see human beings in this day and age taking a few moments out of their busy, involved lives to collectively pay tribute to another human life - I cant help but be moved. it shows that we are still a society that understands humanity. - on the other hand, we see where our society stands based off of our visible priorities. the Fast and the Furious franchise is a collection of films that has thrived off of what I like to refer to as a clique mentality. if you are rich enough, cool enough, and beautiful enough - you are somebody. - and I realize, this is America and thats how it is.... I am not naive to that. but, despite this tragic and untimely death - I am going to stick to the idea that I have nourished for days, weeks, and months before this tragedy. that idea being that it is our American merit system that nurtures inequality. what you have to understand- is that for many people, the Fast and the Furious movie franchise is purely representative of how people in our society are idolized for who they are, what they look like, and what they have... rather than what they do. I think many are taken aback at the reception this death merited in lieu of the events taking place in the world. #2sides
