this isnt my place to say this at all. but im pissed at the response this is receiving. think about this: the white response well theyre looting and rioting so uh that undermines the integrity of their response what about civil disobedience what about talking well if they acted civilly and didnt burn flags means absolutely nothing when 9 white people are in charge of providing justice, when the judicial response is to declare a national emergency sending in 2,200 national guard troops to protect white people against expected violence instead of arresting one cop. the fact of the matter is that the first response of the government and the media to expect violence from a profiled violent black community due to an expected grand jury decision. this means that they expected the black community to deem their actions unjust, this means that they place their justice above the blacks in their community. white justice is not only superior but somehow transcends the legality of the situation. people are killed even though they were acting civilly. now this isnt an accurate description, but think about it this way. the gay community in San Francisco was not trusted by the city, was not trusted by the police department, and was not trusted by the government. civil discourse would not work because they were not considered civil by the people in power. so when Harvey Milk was assassinated by a former police officer and was let off with the lightest possible conviction for his actions, there was justified outrage. the fact is that white supremacy is the paradigm and when the police, the government, the people in power, the media do not consider blacks civil (as evidenced by preparing for EXPECTED violence) the liberal white response (just go to the front page of reddit and look at the comments) undermines the injustice of the scenario and does nothing to contribute.
