this was written by Dianna - the brave soul who helped save Molly in Laos: Hope, love and precaution... In Laos now. 2 days ago met a beautiful spiritual solo traveler named Molly. After a night of some drinks, I went home. Sean, Molly n 4 other travelers stayed out a lil later. At 2 am I get a frantic knock on the hotel door, Sean In shock saying lets go NOw NOw to the hospitals. According to Sean who sAw all of this. Molly decided to get on top of a cab (tuk tuk) open cabs. Only moving 20mph, him n the other travelers watch Molly slip on to her head and rolled off 20ft or so. 2 am, no ambulance, barely any standard medical care. They put her in the cab, scraped, bruised, bleeding from her nose, n ears unconscious. Arriving at the laung phrabang hospital. 8 nurses, a few first year medical students n one doctor. No one speaking English. A hospital a step above a doctors without border situation. Not knowing much knowledge of trauma situations like brain injuries, n no one speaking English. I became the doctor in charge. They had no laboratory, MRI or ct scan. Elevated Mollys bed, checked her pupils, babinski negative, pupils dilated, she began to vomit, blood everywhere. Vitals stable at the moment. 9 nurses no one could give an IV line in, finally found a vein n got it in. Monitored her vitals, continued assessing Neuro status, praying. Incontinent, I put a catheter in her. Tried my hardest to get a helicopter to fly her to trauma clinic in bangkok. No ID or passport on her. 36hrs in hospital, no sleep, Sean being incredible w police n contacting the embassy, her family. His strength was amazing. I never knew how much it meant to be a doctor until being in this moment. I dont know if anything i did would have made a difference, but Ive never been so grateful to choose the path Ive taken. I pray n hope Molly is ok. And a word of advice for travelers. One bump, one reckless mistake can change ur life forever. So be smart. Always have info, passport, id, fAcebook phone number, allergies info on you. Life is too short. I send my love for Molly n her family
