today we celebrate one of the most influential victories in british history, after which came the start of a more democratic rule, the end of absolute power for a monarch, freedom to practice your religion, meaning no longer would anyone have hide away in a cellar to practice their beliefs, the freedom of the press and the formation of the bank of england and later on the bank of scotland, it also meant we gave the french a right good kicking . . and just to make sure people understand this point yes the pope at the time leopold 1st lent money to william to help fund his campaign but for the following reason.... Along with other countries and pricipalities the Holy Roman Empire was a member of the league of Ausberg , who opposed Louis 14th of france attempts to rule and dominate europe by force , By lending the money along with others including Spanish , German and Sardinian princes amongst others, the Empire hoped that by helping fund williams campaign in Northern Europe, it would decimate Louis 14th power and influence leaving the holy roman empire in tact and able to continue its influence over most of middle and southern europe and with the channel between them and mianland Europe they hoped that British influence would be kept to a minimum..
