#tristatewx April 8, 2014: GOOD Tuesday morning, everyone! I hope you enjoyed the rain on Monday? Yes, yes - I can almost hear your collective enthusiasm. It felt more like December than April (I had a temperature of 44 degrees here at the Weather Observatory at 12 noon yesterday - normal highs in December are around the same). BUT - today is a new today. We have a few more rain showers/thunderstorms to get through today. Then we have some drier weather. I am already tracking 70s heading our way. A warm cheer, please for nature taking some responsibility to deliver us some spring temperatures. I know a BUNCH of you have activities this weekend. I wish the forecast was clear cut. It isnt. BUT, I think we will be able to find you some dry weather. I also believe I will be able to keep severe weather out of the forecast Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (during the daytime hours). That is the good news. The bad news is that it may not be 100% dry this weekend. Details Forecast... Today - Cloudy with scattered pop-up afternoon showers and thunderstorms. A few storms might produce frequent lightning and small hail (pea to dime size). High temperatures will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Still a bit cool for April. Tonight - Clearing sky conditions. Stars coming out with cloud departure. It will be on the cool side with low temperatures in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. Northwest winds at around 5 mph. A few small patches of frost not completely out of the question. Wednesday - HUMP day arrive! Sunny sky conditions. Just a few fair weather cumulus possible. Cool for April. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s. West winds slowly become southwest at 5-10 mph. Wednesday night - Clear sky conditions. Stars. A little on the cool side still for April. Lows in the upper 30s and lower 40s. South winds increasing to 10-15 mph late. Thursday - Windy. Kite weather. Warmer. Spring-like. A few clouds. Highs will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s (yay). South winds at 15-35 mph with gusts to 40 mph on lakes and rivers/open areas. Thursday night - Cloudy with a couple of showers and thunderstorms possible. Lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s. South winds at 10-15 mph. Chance of rain will be around 30% at any given location. Friday - Clouds. Some rain and scattered thunderstorms possible. No severe weather expected. Highs will be mainly in the 60s. Winds turning out of the north/northwest early during the day at 10-15 mph then turning out of the south at 10-20 mph and gusty. Chance of rain will be around 30% at any given location. Friday night - Some clouds. Dry. A bit cooler with lows mostly in the 40s. North winds at 10 mph. Saturday - Partly sunny. Dry. Highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. East winds at 10 mph then becoming out of the south at 10-20 mph. Saturday night - Dry. Lows in the 50s. South winds at 5-10 mph. Sunday - A few clouds. Windy at times. Dry. Warmer. Highs into the 70s. South winds at 10-20 mph. Gusty at times. Sunday night and Monday - Widespread showers and thunderstorms likely. Low temperatures on Sunday night will be in the 60s. Highs on Monday will be in the 60s and then falling during the day as a cold front moves through. Becoming windy at times once the front passes through. Winds first out of the south at 10-15 mph and then becoming northerly at 15-25 mph. Chance of rain will be around 90% at any given location. There are some questions as to what time the cold front arrives on Sunday night/Monday. Temperatures will quickly fall behind the front. If the front moves through earlier than expected then the rain chances might shift around a little bit. Right now I will keep Sunday and Sunday afternoon dry. I will introduce the rain chances on Sunday night. Again - if the front speeds up then that will change. Still a bit early to know for sure.
