#tristatewx February 5, 2014: Good afternoon fellow winter weather and anti-winter weather fans! Brace yourselves for some bone chilling cold temperatures tonight and Friday night. Some light snow flurries have been reported around the region today and those chances will continue into Friday and Saturday. Right now it does not look like anything major as far as accumulating snow. I am still watching two systems for the weekend. They appear to be coming in seperately - if they stay seperate then we are spared a bigger storm. Watching next Monday-Wednesday, as well. A bit premature to make a forecast that far out! Lets focus on the pipe busting cold temperatures for the next 48 hours. I know some of you have already had a VERY expensive winter - busted pipes, electric bills that have skyrocketed, running low on propane, and other. It has just been one of those winters. When I said it would be a good ole fashion winter - this is what I meant. I guess some would say a no good ole fashion winter - I also suppose old is relative ;) Forecast... Tonight - bitterly cold air. A few flurries possible. Overnight lows will be in the single digits for most of the areas. Perhaps around 10 near the KY/TN border and a bit above that east of Kentucky Lake. Northwest/north winds at 10 mph. Thursday - Bitterly cold. A few flurries possible. Highs only in the teens. North winds at 10 mph. Thursday night - Bitterly cold. A stray flurry possible. Lows in the single digits. Northwest winds at 10 mph. Friday-Saturday - Partly to Mostly cloudy with a few snow showers possible. Best chance might arrive on Friday night and Saturday morning when a dusting would be possible. That system is moisture starved - but it might squeeze out just enough snow to dust the ground in some spots. Will monitor and update if anything changes. Highs on Friday in the 20s, lows Friday night in the teens, and highs on Saturday in the 20s and lower 30s. Total snow accumulation Friday night and Saturday should be 1 or less. (again I will monitor and update if anything changes). I will post an overnight low graphic in the next comment.
