two months ago I went to an area in lagos State known as afolabi awosanya okpebi, ikeja to be precise, which is exactly where I grew up. I came to see one Ukpai, one of my old time local but skilled fashion designer. Standing before his shop I starred at a building opposite which was the envy of all in d late 80s/early 90s. The building at that time...to me particularly, d most beautiful house in d area. With a staircase that leads to d roof of d building. Infact during festiv seasons like xmas, easter, independence day, new year etc...u will be considered fortunate if kids living there allow u come up to d roof top to watch people from there. There were very few upstairs at d time. Yesterday I starred at d house & saw that its now one of d worst & d oldest in d area. You wouldnt even live there for free. So I discovered that d beautiful houses of tday will still be ugly & old someday. So when u acquire material things, when u build magnificent edifices, pls bear in mind Nothing lasts forever except d value of your soul & ur impact in peoples lives. So dont let the hustle to acquire d good things which wont last forever derail you from d pursuit of great virtues, value and love for ur neighbour...those are d things that never die.
