Not to exceed 150 words The community of the Chovqan game consists of Chovqan players and trainers, who organise, practise and transmit the traditional game on regular basis. As a rule, these players are members of regional Chovqan teams. Numerous Chovqan players and trainers are members of two NGOs - “Karabakh Horses’ Amateurs Association” (KHAA) and “Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation” (AEF). Among them the following persons are widely recognised as experienced players: Alovsat Rajabli, Tamerlan Mehdizade, Nuraddin Atayev, Mushviq Mahmudov, Elvin Islamov, Elnur Huseynov, Kheyal Adburahmanov, Ilgar Mammadov, Etibar Mammadov, Mammad Aliyev and Natiq Orujov. Other members of these NGOs, such as Rashad Samadov, Shamseddin Atayev, Ramil Nadirov and Namiq Orujov, are also prominent practitioners and trainers responsible for forming teams of Chovqan players. A few Chovqan practitioners can also be found among members of “Karabakh and Eurasian Horses” Amateurs Society (NGO), as well as some equestrian clubs, such as “Gunay”, “Sarhadchi” and “Murad”. D. Geographical location and range of the element Provide information on the distribution of the element, indicating if possible the location(s) in which it is centred. If related elements are practised in neighbouring areas, please so indicate. Not to exceed 150 words Chovqan is practised on countryside level particularly in western, north-western, central and eastern regions of Azerbaijan. Depending on availability of Chovqan facilities, the game is also played in some administrative centres of these regions. These are the cities of Gazakh and Agstafa in the Ganja-Gazakh region, Sheki - in the Sheki-Zaqatala (North-western) region and Baku. Sheki annually hosts Chovqan competitions among players from different regions in the Public Horse Breeding Centre of the Dashuz village. In general, Chovqan is now played in the following 16 regions: Sheki, Aghdam, Agstafa, Gazakh, Balaken, Zagatala, Gakh, Oguz, Ismayilli, Baku, Yevlakh, Goranboy, Goygol, Barda, Dashkesen and Tovuz. It is also practiced, with lesser frequency, in Ganja, Karabakh, Khyzy, Shamakhi and Gedabey.
