♥♥ via Doreen Virtue Official Fan Page You Already ARE a Spiritual Healer and Teacher Your dream of having a full-time career as a spiritual teacher or healer is much more than a dream. It’s a sign. If you continually imagine yourself having a meaningful career that supports you and your family financially, emotionally, and spiritually, then this is a sign that your life purpose involves this type of work. And yet it’s not enough to dream. Action is required. However, it isn’t that simple, is it? Otherwise you’d already be on your way. Lightworkers are, by definition, sensitive. They’re receptive to the energies in any room they walk into. They’re attuned to other people’s moods and feelings and to environmental factors such as chemicals, pollution, or noise. They’re conscious of the presence of angels. And they’re also sensitive to other people’s opinions. This sensitivity is both a gift and a lifesaving instinct. You see, your overall personality remains fairly constant throughout lifetimes. Once a lightworker, always a lightworker. You’ve been a spiritual teacher or healer many, many times before in other lives. You’ve been a priest or priestess, temple-keeper, monk or nun, alchemist, sorcerer or sorceress, seer, scribe, astronomer, or other form of esoteric healer and teacher (or maybe all of the above!). Yet, although there have always been lightworkers on this planet, they weren’t always treated kindly. History is rife with tales of witch trials and inquisitions during Earth’s dark ages (those periods of time when the physical and tangible are accorded more respect than the nontangible and spiritual). It’s been historically common for people, governments, and churches to blame lightworkers for plagues, bad crop years, and other calamities. So to stay alive and avoid punishment, lightworkers have developed an ultra-sensitivity to other people’s approval or disapproval. (Plus, they want everyone to be happy.) It’s important to recognize your natural tendencies that some might call “people pleasing,” but which I see as instinctive survival skills, combined with the sensitivity that underlies all psychic abilities. These qualities also arise when you’re teased about your lightworker characteristics. If you’ve been called “weird,” “odd,” “too sensitive,” or worse, then you’ve experienced mild forms of the ostracizing that lightworkers have historically undergone. That’s why many lightworkers tend to isolate. Think of the wizard living alone in the woods and you get the picture. Yet in modern-day society, isolating isn’t very practical. Most people have to work with others out of necessity and emotional need. If you find interacting with your peers difficult, then you’re likely socializing and working in harsh environments. Once you make the switch to a spiritually based career, you’ll find welcome relief as you become surrounded by other sensitive and gentle people. Many lightworkers hesitate to become public healers and teachers because of fears of further teasing, rejection, or ostracism. What will people think? the lightworker anxiously asks. This is especially true if their families hold traditional religious values or are conservative. I call this process “coming out of the spiritual closet,” where you reveal your true beliefs to others. I wouldn’t recommend holding a debate about spirituality or religion, because no one is converted through fear or anger. Instead, let your “outing” happen gradually and naturally. Perhaps you begin by mentioning a spiritual book that you’ve enjoyed reading, and then go from there. Remember: You already are a spiritual teacher and healer. You were born one, and you’ve been practicing your art for lifetimes. For example, if you’ve been attracting strangers who tell you their life stories and problems, been using your hands to heal people’s ailments, or been counseling your girlfriends through their life crises, then yes, you’re already working as a spiritual teacher and healer.
