vidyaexpress/news.php?id=478&action=d SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level 2014 Data Entry Operator syllabus SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) 2014 examination is being conducted to recruit candidates for 1,006 Data Entry Operator posts and 991 Lower Division Clerk posts at various central government ministries/departments/offices. Competing at a national level examination such as SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) examination 2014 requires heavy preparation. While the written examination is the same for both DEO and LDC entrance tests, the practical test differs greatly. For those interested in applying for the Data Entry Operator position, here is a guide on the syllabus. Paper Pattern The Combined Higher Secondary Level examination will consist of two parts; Part 1 will be a common written exam, while Part 2 will be a practical test. Candidates applying for the role of Data Entry Operator will undergo a skill test for the practical test. Part I The written examination will include four sections, with each section worth 50 marks. The questions will be in the form of objective-type multiple-choice questions, with negative marking of 0.25 marks applicable. Written exam sections are: 1. General Intelligence (50 questions) This section will include both verbal and non-verbal type questions, including questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation,Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern - folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding. 2. English Knowledge - Basic Knowledge (50 questions) This section will include Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/Detecting Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One-word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage and Comprehension Passages. 3. Quantitative Aptitude - Basic Arithmetic Skill (50 questions) ARITHMETIC - Number Systems, Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions, Relationship between numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation Time and distance, Time and work. ALGEBRA: Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and Graphs of Linear Equations. GEOMETRY: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts, Triangle and its various kinds of centres, congruence and similarity of triangles, circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles. MENSURATION: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or Square Base TRIGONOMETRY: Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities STATISTICAL CHARTS: Use of Tables and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar-diagram, Pie-chart 4. General Awareness (50 questions) The questions will be designed to test the candidates general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy and Scientific Research. Part II Data Entry Operator: The skill test for Data Entry Operator is of qualifying nature only where candidates are required to have a Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on computer. Candidates will be given printed matter in English which they would need to enter in the computer within 15 minutes giving a minimum speed of 2000-2200 strokes/key-depressions. After qualifying the skill test, candidates will be appointed based on their position in the merit list. The candidates who clear the written test (based on the cut off set by the commission) will be called to attempt the skill test. Exam will be held on November 2, 2014 and November 9, 2014.
