(warning: long and sentimental) I feel so lucky to have lived in Fairfax County when I did---we had neighbors on Wakefield Chapel Rd who had horses, there was the farm in disarray owned my the Besleys on WC Rd, too, where we could run barefoot (even though its dangerous) go ice skating (even though its dangerous) and explore to our hearts and imaginations content....Bye bye, Besleys, long ago, and now bye bye 29 Diner. Its really too bad that Fairfax turned into FAIRFAX, Inc. *shrug* happens. My best friend and I rode our bikes along 236 from Duncan Dr to the end of Camelot--this was in 1967. One of my neighbors saw us and called our parents to rat us out. So we were getting away with murder, at least for a little while---but we had neighbors whom we knew who cared. Thats not something we have anymore.
