warning: small rant ahead. I like this video, but: true love and true kindness are unattainable without consistency of thought and action to go with conviction. you will never know these things so long as you wear, eat, or benefit from the suffering of other life forms simply because you deem them inferior or expendable. this requirement is consistently universal because we as a society have decided it to be so throughout centuries of discussion and war, and our actions must reflect those feelings- it goes beyond race, gender, orientation, and species. you cant expect me to take your pleas for peace, love, and unity seriously so long as your dollar supports suffering. you cant be against murder but pro meat, against rape, slavery, and infanticide but pro dairy(and meat), against unjust imprisonment but pro orca captivity and circuses, and you cant tell me theres a difference just because their body looks different than yours, or because you deem them less intelligent, or because of any other unproven or arbitrary pro-human bias measurement. if you dont see how these problems are the same, or think that you can abolish one while keeping the other, you are a part of the problem, and those same arguments were used time and time again throughout history to attempt to justify wrongdoing. what does it say about a society that proclaims nonviolence and love as its strongest value, but teaches children from an early age that products obtained from subjugation, murder, rape, and slavery are somehow acceptable, fun, fashionable, or delectable? its hypocrisy at its most horrendous. Ill have no part in it. Think about that when you watch this video- his poem is powerful. I dont know what kind of lifestyle that man lives, but i hope its consistent with his words.
