watched maher last night and i like his appeal to draft jerry brown into the presidential race. brown, like ron wyden of Oregon, is a democrat i could vote for. hes fiscally responsible, which makes him stand out among democrats (and, sad to say, republicans today); hes long been a proponent of the simple flat tax, which would create one rate, allow exemption only for the initial amount of income (between 10-20k), and then tax the rest without thr loopholes, credits, and exemptions that allow so many to avoid paying the stated rate. browns plan would allow a rate of under 13 percent without reducing revenue, and allow all americans to be able to do their taxes with a single one page form and a pencil. the voluminous tax code is designed to confuse and obfuscate, allowing the very wealthy to skirt taxes while penalizing middle class citizens based on their particular personal choices. hope brown runs.
