we ask for bread / and you throw us wedding cake we ask for home - TopicsExpress

we ask for bread / and you throw us wedding cake we ask for home / and you throw us back into the churches that taught us how to hate ourselves we ask for safety / and you give us benefits for jobs that refuse to hire us Wrote this poem about growing up in a small town in Texas and how the urban white gay movement erases and marginalizes the experiences of rural queer youth (of color). Is gay marriage really going to help queer youth? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Solidarity to all of the queer youth in the South who are finding ways to survive and resist in a movement climate that profits off of your struggle and isnt invested in ending it.
