we leave austin bout 1 sat. lucas working on a history paper. kyle watching tom petty doc. aaron cussing traffic on 35. me, reading a book called the chitlin circuit and the road to rock n roll by preston lauterbach. it is an enlightening, significant read and worth the price if only for finding out the original lyrics to tutti frutti by little richard, who by the way after we were robbed in l.a. at our hotel parking lot on sunset strip after we played a gig somewhere there when i was 25 or so, was the first person we met when we walked into the hotel lobby..he asked if we had change for a hundred..we said we did have but not now as we just got robbed and he said (okay, believe it or dont ) good golly, miss molly. you poor boys. i had 1200 bucks in my boot i didnt tell the robbers about but they was all hundreds so we couldnt help him.. we get to gainsville for the gig with sam riggs at whiskey river sat and did it and met some nice people after wards.. next morning had coffee with sam and his band. then went by charlies guitar on royal lane and saw my old friend clay and drooled over some great guitars and amps but just bought a tuner.. met ol charlie solomon for lunch at his new restaurant at lovers and inwood named miseros and it was amazingly great and now my favorite place to eat in the whole world..and not just cause he picked up the check. then off to to play for trace and paiges wedding north of weatherford and what a bunch of nice people..changed a few lyrics since as there were kids running around but his brother said he would get his grandmother drunk so we could do choctaw bingo and we did it at the end but left out a verse anyway.. gonna go to billy joe shavers birthday party tonite at the paramount in austin and do a few songs..probably black rose and the messenger.. gotta a surprise guest gonna sing black rose with me..tell you later. thats it.. write as if your life depends on it and it will. yours truly, rwh
