well, at last on 10th March, 2014 i entered into the school campus, approached the main entrance. a gentleman came forward and greeted me friendly and asked what was my purpose. i asked for the headmaster. the gentleman, perhaps a teacher, told me he were in the class and requested me to wait for a few minutes. i looked around the institution and was fascinated by the appearence of the splendid building. during my time it was a housing made of corrugated tin and on solid foundation. now it is a wonderful two storied building, u-type with corridors. after a little while headnaster came and greeted me with an interrogative look. i introduced myself by telling him that i were the son of late Binode Behari Roy-Chowdhury, the main initiator of the founder- family Roy-Chowdhury who founded this school in 1913. the headmaster, Mr. Kabir took my hands in his and greeted me heartily embracing me deeply. at that very moment i was emotionally so overpowered that i could not control my tears. in the meantime the corridors were full of curious boys and girls and about 50/60 people gathered around me. my nephew Indu was always at my side. Mr. Kabir announced the school were off for the day. the boys and girls were going out cheering and that cheering was sounding like sonorous music in my ears. i remembered my childhood. as i stood in front of the school i thought that here i learned how to write and read and atfer passing higher secondary examination, so called matriculation examination, i left the school in 1948, went to calcutta for college. after 66 years i am here again. by the time people (about 50/60 pers.) were standing in row to give me pranam or welcoming me by saying salam alikum. i was so embarrassed! i told them i was not a holy person, just a simple human being like them. i came back to that place for my own sake driven by a boisterous urge. then they told that was their urge to welcome me like that way. Mr. Kabir and Indu nodded. i stood there like a statue, yes like an idiot, and let them do their busibness! after making a number of photos we entered into the headmasters office. hey my friends, till tomorrow! nik
