well, i have often wondered if rugby would protect us if we needed protecting, if he would sniff out somebody with bad intentions and try to eat them. question answered. i was out back watering when stan came out and said there was a guy at the door. i walked out to find rugby snarling and barking viciously, stans holding him back, and this old dude is standing at my open front door, his bike thrown on the ground in front of the gate. he wants something. he wants to do yardwork. i say no. he says this sure is a nice house, too bad the lawn is dying. i said, were in a drought, were letting it die. he chuckled like that means nothing, and tried again. about this time i noticed that he was weaving ALOT, like i do when i am drunk. he started looking around, like he was casing the house. yep, this is a real nice house, he says again. i told him, get out, we dont need any yard word done. and dont ever come through my gate again. i have a big dog, and he wants to eat you. he made excuses for how he got in. he said the little girl let him in. i said, that is a boy. he said it again, i came in after the little girl. i said i dont care, that is a boy, and dont ever come through the gate again. stan had been out for a walk with rugby, and when he came back, the dude had already let himself in the gate, which was closed with our ultra secure bungee cord lock. front door wide open, me in the back watering. damn it. at least rugby wants to eat bad guys. but he may never get to leave the yard again.
