well intro to photojournalism this week was fun we had to do a discussion.. this is what it was:: You work for a publication. You are covering a house fire. You see firemen carrying a victim out of the residence as you arrive on the scene. You are uncertain whether the victim is alive or not. Will you photograph the victim? Why or why not? Provide explanation to support your decision. well i answered with this:: In this case to be honest is a very touch spot. There is so much to take in account but that has to be thought of before getting on scene. Yes I would take the shot but I would make sure the victim face is not visible for the publication. It falls under the privacy act for people, plus family has to be informed to so you cant have the face showing. I have been on plenty of fire scenes but luckily never had to go through anything like that. I know if i was put on the spot I would take the shot. and the professor challenged me with this:: Tell us how you handled yourself at a site, and share with us an image please! well my response was this:: The way I would proceed with the shot is get different angles as Im kneeling down with the flames in the background and try to get a silhouette of the firefighter with the victim if the face shows at that angle. Then i would go to another angle that the face is not showing and get a clear shot of the firefighter carrying the victim. The examples I have here are shots I took of a motor vehicle accident (mva) In some you can see the victim but not the face and others you see the firefighters working on the victim.
