well, its been an interesting past 3 days... Nathans ankle has landed him once again at Childrens Hospital. From his surgery back in August- one of the incisions never really healed right. 2 weeks ago... it swelled and was angry.. so Urgent Care put him on antibiotics... that seems to help a lot. However, once he was done with those 10 days.... his ankle got angry again. So we scheduled an appt on Thursday morning up at the Mill Creek Childrens Clinic... they took xrays and sent us down to the main campus in Seattle. Once there- the orthopedic surgeon told us that he needed to have emergency surgery to clean out the wound because it looks like the infection is getting into the bone. Ugh. So- after consulting Scott (who is out of town!)... we had to forfeit our weekend plans to head to Leavenworth and camp out here at the hospital for the next 3-5... maybe 7 days. So thats what Ive been doing. The good news is... Nathans procedure went really well... the surgeon thinks they got it all out... hes responding well to the iv antibiotics... hes got a drain in his ankle to drain off excess fluid so it doesnt get trapped. We are hoping he gets to come home tomorrow... at least thats the plan. Its been an adventure- but Im thankful for the great treatment hes been getting and hes got all the nurses here on the floor quite charmed by his politeness! They just think hes great! Ill just be thankful to have him back home and soon! :) Another cool thing.. is weve got a fantastic view of Husky Stadium and the Space Needle from his room! :)
