well its friday people, and it actually turned out to be a good day. woke up breathing, thats always a very good thing. smudged, and sang a song for all those people who are still suffering from their addictions. and prayed for unity amongst the nations, and for the elders, because their wisdom is what makes us who we are today, and i also prayed for the children, to have their eyes opened so they can follow in the footsteps of the old ones. today i went to a event put together by the students of the yakima nation tribal school, they go out and digg their roots, and they go fishing for the salmon , they go hunting for the meat. and it was done all by the students. they had some elders there that helped them serve the food in the traditional way. but all in all it was the students that was putting in th footwork that they have been learning from their up-bringings. alot of them put on their ribbon shirts and their wing-dresses for the first time alot of them were saying. and were gonna continue to do so because it felt right to honor the traditions, and to honor the elders that were their. to me personally it was a sight to see, the younger generation following in the footsteps of the old ones. living and learning the ways. i was proud of all of them. they did a very good job, and their event was a sucess. seeing things like this always gives me more hope that things are comming full circle. are youth are stepping up and keeping things moving, instead of running in place.(know what i mean when i say that). they really are our future, and they are going strong in the right direction. we still need to keep getting the message out there, never stop doing that people, the younger generation is responding, in a good way. they say it starts at home. does it?. i believe so, but that is just the beginning of a good begginning, (know what i mean). long ago the whole camp was envolved in these matterts. or community whatever you want to call it. remember how they say never forget where you come from, if a community is really involved in such a way, then the younger people are not gonna forget where they came from....right! i truely believe its happining people, keep doing what you are doing at home and in the communities, because i cant be the only one that sees this. thier is always gonna be work we are gonna have to do yet, but its getting better, just gotta believe, and believe in our youth, and even some of the older ones, (u know what i mean)i give props to the students of the yakima tribal school, very good job....hope to be their next year....well people just some random thoughts for today, if i offended anyone it isnt my intent. it was a very good day...please keep praying, singing smudging, sweating, teaching, and dont forget to live a little. smile, laugh....listen to the wind and you will hear me singing for the people.....YOKA-KLOTE
