well !! what can I say ..... ,I have been to the Caribbean before and I may have sounded a little blase over the last two weeks drinking beer, soaking up the sun and making merry ............. but I have seen so many amazing things and met so many people and diverse cultures on this trip . It has been a truly humbling, thought provoking and enjoyable time . From the young waiters and staff on our ship ........some of whom dont see the light of day for months at a time and happily work shifts we wouldnt even contemplate ,,,,,,and then send all their monies home to their families abroad and who are so grateful for the opportunity to do so and always with wit and a smile .. To the people who live on each of the nine islands that we have visited. Some having absolutely nothing themselves ,yet are still happy to share ....even if it just a smile and a kind word or a song . I watched as a $5 note was paraded around all the tables in a packed bar on one island ...........A lady had picked it up off the floor ..........The lady in question who was in her late sixties and still working flat out in a boiling hot bar , didnt pop it in her pocket and claim it as her own...she inquired from every person there if it was theirs !! That would have been claimed immediately here I and sure !! and not necessarily by the rightful owner !! People ,so proud of their culture and heritage , who look after their families , enviroments , culture , and visitors alike ............and treat them all as a blessing . We have a lot to learn !! If you are fortunate enough to visit these idyllic places in the caribbean, its not all beach, sun and beer ..............make sure you see the real islands, the real people. Support them as tourists yes .in places it is only money from tourism that keeps them going ..................but. also immerse yourselves into their culture too x ........even if it is just for a short while xx It will be worth it ..........there is another side to paradise xx
