,,, went out on a big tree estimate out in winfeild today - much to my suprise/delight I found myself looking at the largest white oak Ive ever came accross!-though not too tall, what it lacked in height it more than made up for in girth/base. I myself am 6 tall an could easily lay upon the stump with plenty of room to spare - while that was impressive even to me as a 35 year tree trimmer; what I noticed down at the base of this majestic giant was a HUGE 10 lb cluster of chicken of the woods, mushrooms! As though that wasnt impressive enough,,, on the far side of the same tree was an even bigger cluster approximately 15 lbs of hen of the woods mushrooms, (pretty much the same thing) Yet even more so mind blowing was the largest golden chantrells, Ive ever seen ever - these behemoth beauties were growing right out of the hens an are a staggering 8 tall an almost 7 accross! For those who dnt know the golden-orange ones are the chantrells,,, (pics below) hungry anyone?
