what is this page? should i try it? who am I? im not going to tell you who i am but i thought id share something with you. last year i was invited to be studied in a hospital in New York. that study is currently being reviewed to be published in the journal of alternative and complementary medicine. in the study i worked on about 30 patients with varying problems. below are case notes from 3 patients. Room 4144-B 87 year old female with a past medical history of diffuse coronary artery disease s/p pacemaker placement in 1994, anemia, bowel resection for bleeding diverticulosis 3 years ago initially presented to the hospital for pressure like chest pain, epigastric pain, and left shoulder pain two days ago. In addition, patient complains of chronic issues related to pain in her mouth, headache, and neck pain. During this session the patient was sitting on a chair next to her hospital bed. In the room was another patient who shared the room, two post graduate year 1 residents, one fourth year medical student, the patient’s close friend, and ##### himself. The session began with ##### energizing a cup of water that was already in the patient’s room before he came. The patient then drank the water and was completely healed of the pain away in her left arm; however, the pain in her mouth, neck, and head still persisted. The patient then stood up and walked a few steps and waved her arm to show that she was without pain. Next, the patient ate some pudding which she states would typically give her severe epigastric pain. First, ###### placed his hands over her sternal area without touching her, and then she proceeded to eat the entire cup of hospital size cup of pudding. After finishing the cup of pudding, she reported no pain at all. Finally, the patient complained of mouth pain that the patient reported to be a lump on the hard palate. After ###### placed his hand over her head for a few seconds, the lump had decreased in size. ###### repeated the maneuver with his hand over her head and shrunk the lump in her mouth completely. Finally, ###### repeated the maneuver for the pain in the patient’s neck and healed the patient of her neck pain. A few minutes after this session was over the patient got up and walked out of her room, into the hallway of the hospital, and back to her room. The patient states that this is the first time she has been able to walk without a cane for the past nine years. Note written by ##### #####, Medical Student year 4 Session witnessed by ##### ##### M.D. and ##### ##### M.D. Date: 9/17/13 34 yr old F with PMH of Ca cervix diagnosed in 2010 s/p resection of the Ovaries and chemo x5 times in 2010 and 10 weeks of RT and 6 weeks of internal RT BIB EMS due to syncope found to have severe anemia hb 5.1 s/p 2PRBC in the ER. Patient has been passing blood in her urine continuously since last Wednseday (9/11). Patient was seen initially yesterday (9/16/13) by #####. At the time she was still complaining of lower abdominal bloating and she was still passing blood in her urine. ##### first energized a pitcher of water that was already in the room, filled a cup full of the water, and had her drink it. After she drank the first cup she felt a little better but still complained of the bloating. ##### then placed his hands over her lower abdomen for a few seconds and afterwards the patient’s bloating had resolved. He asked her to drink the rest of the water in the pitcher and he would follow up with her the next day. Over the next few hours the blood in the urine stopped as was observed in the Foley catheter bag. The next morning on 9/17/13 the patient went for a cystoscopy and biopsy of her bladder. Afterwards, the patient complained of burning pain in her urethra that she described to be 8/10 in severity accompanied by increase in urgency of urination. ##### held his hang over her abdomen and the patient reported that she began to feel a cooling sensation over her lower abdomen. ##### repeated the maneuver and the patient rated the pain to be 6/10. Then ##### had the patient close her eyes and he closed his eyes. Patient reported she felt cooler and experienced a decrease in burning sensation but it was still there, now rated as 3/10. Patient and ##### closed their eyes again and the burning had “cooled off” per patient, and was not there anymore. Patient reported pain to be 0/10. In Room in both sessions: The patient, another patient sharing the room, #####, ##### ##### Medical student year 4), and ##### ##### MD (PGY1 intern). Note written by ##### #####, MS4 Room: 4144-A 86 yo female presented with intermittent chest pain for past three days found to be in respiratory distress was admitted to telemetry to r/o acute coronary syndrome. In the emergency department patient was found to have a positive urinalysis that showed many bacteria. On the telemetry floor patient was complaining of severe pain rated as 10/10 “inside her vagina”. Today the patient received Morphine 2mg IV this morning at 10:37AM, and then phenazopyridine at 2:52 PM in the afternoon with no relief. At around 4:30PM patient was seen by ##### He did two maneuvers with his hands over her lower abdomen that relieved her pain when stationary but still experienced the pain when she moved. The patient had a foley catheter in place since yesterday night (9/16/13) that was then removed. ##### repeated the maneuver over her abdomen and now the patient reported no pain at all (0/10). Next, ##### addressed the patient’s difficulty breathing. Patient had shallow, rapid breathing which has been her baseline. ##### performed multiple maneuvers over her chest with his hands and at the end of the session the patient reported “she feels great”. Within five minutes, the nurse caring for the patient reported that she was doing arm exercises while she was in bed. One hour later, patient is still asymptomatic. Attendance: Patient, another patient sharing the room, #####, the translating nurse ##### #####, ##### ##### (MS4), and Dr. #####. Note written by ##### #####, MS4.
