when 20 & 21 years of age we were taught to evangelize, to love, pray, forgive, tithe, and more. So, my sisters in Christ, they were in their late teens, would go and knock on doors in my neighborhood to tell others about the good news of Jesus Christ. Well, one day when walking to my church a group of people about my age were on the other side of the street. I didnt speak, I was shy in some things, and they didnt speak to me either. But, from the other side of the street I heard someone say that I was a Christian and one of the handsome young man made a statement, that because I didnt speak to them That it must not be too much of me. (Being a Christian) That after all these years have stuck with me that comment and I still didnt say anything. NOW, I UNDERSTAND, THAT AS A CHRISTIAN HE HAD A HIGHER LEVEL OF EXPECTANCY FROM ME even though NO ONE SPOKE TO ME. I dont believe that he was being mean spirited. Why am, I saying this...Because sometimes, amongst Christians at church, some of us dont reach out and smile or say hello or go to those that you dont know after church but stay in the comfort zone of your friends. And perhaps, you dont mean any harm but others have a higher expectation of you because of your visibility or what ever. I know that sometimes, even being friendly is met with suspicion or with disdain but that called growing and moving out and showing kindness. well......
