when multiple fitness elements are trained as part of a program; the rate of progress of one individual fitness element will be much slower than if it was the only element trained for. It should seem obvious, but isn’t, that to increase any single component of fitness as fast as possible within genetic limitations -> then more time MUST BE devoted to training just that specific element. Training too many fitness components at one time can get you nowhere fast – and some components are actually counterproductive to other ones. We see this mostly in the “fitness bunny” contingent and over-exercisers – who are so focused on “calories-burning” that they overdo “cardio” at the expense of strength work; or proper recovery from strength work – thereby retarding and delaying the aesthetic/athletic look they are trying to accomplish. “Skinny fat and exhausted” is the usual result of this scenario. ------ Abel.s
