I fly yonder ~ regions as into a dream to discover my inner self... try to identify each instrument making the music this is not all Western music its oriental... thats the point I am NOT a Westerner... from a 5,000 year history a 100 year aberration occurred... to our family, to me... briefly, I became a Singaporean that was not my choice for in fact, I am Chinese... thru & thru ~ by blood & bones that has not changed sure that 100 year period also avoided some of Chinas most tumultuous & difficult periods the Japanese invasion, the II World War followed by Communism we did not escape the Western exploitation a period of intense shame & humiliation inflicted by the West & Japan en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unequal_treaty while in Singapore, again NOT of my will I was sent for Western education it had its advantages then better job prospects in the commercial world & civil service the result also I became Singaporean actually, a non-entity... some call us bananas ~ yellow outside, white inside... I think & express mainly in English... that is to me regrettable coz no Westerner will accept me as one of their own ! coz I am 100% Chinese elsewhere to them, perhaps I am a puzzle neither here nor there ! hence I am a fixture of no mans land yet deep down in my very psyche ~ I AM CHINESE ! ESPECIALLY NOW that I reside in a Western country ! coz they will ALWAYS remind me of that ~ I am NOT one of them...! the potpourri of British, Americans, white S Africans, Serbians, Yugoslavians, Czechs etc Europeans could come here... in one short generation they can/will merge into the population but the Asians WILL take longer they look different l as if thats all that matters... except maybe thro mixed marriages... lets face up the FACTS of LIFE racism is UGLY ! and its my ass luck to have been a Singaporean ! wotever that was ! still I am happy to be here where there is REAL freedom... to be targeted by racism is expected and much more acceptable than : being a victim of dictatorship and being victimised by ones own kind... primarily on the basis of $$$...!!! or rather the LACK of it !!! for I BELIEVE theres definitely MORE to LIFE than juz $$$ ! EVEN IF one is Chinese ! hahaha !
