#women There is NO justification for beating women in the Quran. It is a widespread translation and interpretation fallacy. In the context of the verse, daraba means leave/go abroad, however some who are keen to translate or understand it as beat, strike physically are making efforts in vain: ... But those [wives] from whom you fear ill-conduct - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], leave them... (Quran, 4:34) In other verses God says DO NOT HARM/INJURE THEM” and “DO NOT TAKE UNDUE ADVANTAGE FROM THEM” (Quran, 2:231) The woman also can divorce or seek for a reconciliation: “If a wife fears CRUELTY/ILL-TREATMENT or desertion/evasion on her husbands part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves; and such settlement is best...” (Quran, 4:128)
